It has often been said that the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette has never really left Myanmar. The love and devotion of the people to Our Lady of La Salette remained and the Missionaries and the ministries they have accomplished continued to be held in high esteem long after the last of the American missionaries left in 1976.

The Congregation, however,  had always dreamt of a return to Myanmar.  The Asean Outreach Program spearheaded by the Ina ng Pag-asa Province provided the venue when Fr. Mya Thein, MS was designated to anchor the Burma Desk. The ordination in May 4, 2004 of the first four Philippine-formed Myanmar nationals further stoked the fire of that longing.

Finally, in the last week of September 2005, at the Pre-Chapter meetings of the Ina ng Pag-asa Province, a "send-off" ceremony was held, commissioning Frs. Bernard Taylor,

Philip Mahka Naw Aung, David Kyaw Kyaw Lwin, Nicodemus Aung Than Aye and Jerome Saw Eiphan to initiate the re-implantation of the La Salette presence.

In November 18, 2005, Fr. Isidro Perin, MS (Superior General), Fr. Dennis Loomis, MS (elected General Superior of the Congregation in the General Chapter of May 2005 held at Silang, Cavite), Fr. Roland Nadeau, MS (Vicar General of the previous General Administration), Fr. Manuel dela Cruz, MS (Provincial Superior of the Ina ng Pag-asa Province, Philippines), Jack Nuelle, MS and Fr. Salvador Pico, MS and with the Myanmar brethren celebrated the mass at which the District of Myanmar was formally established.  The event also marked the official return of the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette to Myanmar.
