To the website of the Ina ng Pag-asa, the Philippine Province of the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette!

You will be enabled here to witness the founding event that forever will shape the minds and hearts of the priests and brothers belonging to this religious congregation.

Be mindful, however,  that this Alpine slope is just part of the great living mountain which is Christ. Mary has shown us the way to Jesus and will always direct us to the Savior.

It is our intention that in your prayerful reading of the Apparition of Mary at La Salette and by God's great mercy touch the Fountain of Life which nourishes us forever.

You will also be told here the history of the La Salettes in the Philippines and the apostolate they are currently involved in.  However humble the beginnings and humdrum and sketchy the narration, all these are powerful spiritual realities - all of them lifeline of the Ina ng Pag-asa Province.

The Founding Event

On Saturday, September 19, 1846, a "Beautiful Lady" appeared to two children, both from Corps, in the French Alps: Maximin Giraud, eleven years old, and Melanie Calvat, almost fifteen, who were watching their herds on the slope of Mt. Planeau not far from the village of La Salette.

In a little hollow, they suddenly noticed a globe of fire - "as though the sun had fallen on that spot."  Within the dazzling light, they gradually perceived a woman, seated on her knees and her face buried in her hands.

This section narrates the founding event of the Congregation, Mary's conversation  with the two children ...  the early years . . .
